Globulin calculator

Work out your globulin — and the albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio — from the two protein numbers on a standard metabolic panel: total protein and albumin. Most labs calculate globulin exactly this way. In g/dL or g/L.

Your privacy: this calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere. It's the same on-device principle Quanome is built on.

Educational reference only — not medical advice. Globulin and the A/G ratio are broad pattern clues read with the rest of your protein panel and clinical picture. Reference ranges vary by lab.

## What the numbers mean | Value | Typical range | | --- | --- | | Globulin | ~2.0–3.5 g/dL (20–35 g/L) | | A/G ratio | ~1.2–2.2 | **Globulin** is everything in your blood protein that isn't albumin — antibodies, transport proteins, clotting and inflammatory proteins. **High** globulin points toward chronic inflammation, infection or liver disease (persistently high values are sometimes followed up with protein electrophoresis); **low** globulin toward reduced antibody production or protein loss. A **low A/G ratio** can come from either side — low albumin or high globulin — which is why the two are always read together. ## The formulas - **Globulin = total protein − albumin** — unit-independent (keep both in the same unit). - **A/G ratio = albumin ÷ globulin** — unitless, normally a little above 1 because albumin is the larger fraction. ## The rest of your protein panel These two derived numbers sit on top of three measured ones: - **Total protein** — see [what your total protein level means](/blog/what-your-total-protein-level-means/). - **Albumin** — see [albumin & the metabolic panel](/blog/albumin-alp-metabolic-panel-explained/). - **The A/G ratio in depth** — see [what your albumin/globulin ratio means](/blog/what-your-albumin-globulin-ratio-means/). - On the same panel: correct calcium for albumin with the [corrected calcium calculator](/tools/corrected-calcium-calculator/). ## Track your protein panel over time — privately A single globulin is a snapshot; the value is in the **trend**. [Quanome](/) pulls your labs, Apple Health, and even your DNA into one private timeline on your device — parsed locally, never uploaded — with an AI coach that reads your protein panel in whichever units you use.
